About the Tripleta
El Punto's Tripleta is the dish that puts the shop on the map. Three meats are griddled to order: thinly sliced chicken (pollo), slow-cooked pernil (Puerto Rican roast pork), and ham. They're stacked together inside warm Italian bread that's been pressed warm on the flat top, then dressed with iceberg lettuce, tomato, mayoketchup, and a tangle of crisp shoestring potatoes that thread through every bite.
Walking up to a Tripleta for the first time, the size is the first thing people mention. It's a generous, two-handed sandwich built to fill you up. The contrast is the second: warm pressed bread, hot meats, cool lettuce and tomato, and the crunch from the potato strings. It's the closest thing to a sandwichera in San Juan you'll find in the Lehigh Valley.

Origin & story
The tripleta originated in Puerto Rico in the 1980s as a working-person’s lunch — three deli meats on Puerto Rican bread, stretched with vegetables and shoestring potatoes for a complete meal. Guayama is often credited as the birthplace. Each sandwichera develops its own meat combination and house sauce. El Punto has been serving theirs in Allentown since 2003.
